Jashbhai Maganbhai Patel College of Commerce,(Known as J.M.Patel College) was founded in the Academic Year 1988-89 (Nearly 30 years) by the Sanskardham Kelavani Mandal (SKM) which was established in the year 1959 ( Nearly 60 years back), it’s permanently affiliated to the University of Mumbai. All the institution under the Umbrella of SKM, is spread out in the Campus of 2.09 acre. Beside being affiliated to the University of Mumbai, It has also been now, registered as Minority College from 03rd April 2019. It’s recognised under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. It’s Academic Audit was conducted by the University and has considered fit college, for Autonomy. It has been reaccredited with CGPA of 2.79 at Grade B by NAAC in the year January 2011. It will now again reapply for accreditation during the Academic year 2019-2020. The College offers 3 year integrated courses in B.Com; B.A.F; B.M.S and B.Sc (IT). It has got good well-ventilated Classroom and other activities area and rooms with proper ambience for all round development of the students. It has proper functional IT Laboratory and last but not the least, a proper Qualified and competent faculty, with wide range of practical experience. Beside, Principal, the Management has also appointed, Administrator to take care of the maintenance of Quality in Education System. All activities are carried out in proper spirit of Statutes and Ordinances of Mumbai University from time to time. Rajasthani Sammelan, a public charitable trust established its identity in the year 1948 at Malad, a western suburb of Mumbai, to promote social and educational activities. For more than six decades, the Trust has played a leading role in promoting education. The long-cherished dream of Rajasthani Sammelan to start a degree college was realized in the year 1983 on account of the generous donation given by Shri Mahavirprasad G. Saraf, a great philanthropist and the Managing Trustee of Ghanshyamdas Saraf Trust. Affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the college has been named in the memory of Late Seth Ghanshyamdas Saraf – father of Shri Mahavirprasad G. Saraf. It started functioning with 220 students. In the year 1997, a spacious five-storied college building was constructed in the same premises with many modern facilities and was inaugurated on 3rd July 1997 by His Excellency Dr. P.C. Alexander, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra. In June 2008, an additional floor was built to make it a six-storey structure. The college has been re-accredited by NAAC with an “A” Grade in March 2013 with a CGPA of 3.23 on a four-point scale.
